Reindeer in Ruka!

Dec 2

Whistler is a hard place to leave sometimes… right after our camp it dumped snow and the mountain was awesome! I got two amazing powder days in before I left on my trip. I also spent one day in Vancouver. I love how I can go from ocean to mountains in just an hour and a half… I live in a pretty awesome place!

After a very long trip that included lost baggage, delayed flights and an overnight in Helsinki… I have made it to Ruka, Finland! Kristi, Drey and myself are staying in a condo right on the hill so we can walk to the mogul course. Finland definitely loves their reindeer. Reindeer stew, pizza, smoked pasta… whatever you want. We came across a pizza called the Rudolfina! Poor Rudolph… So far we have had two training days on the course. It is definitely a little strange skiing in the dark at 230pm but other than that its great. The snow is awesome and the course is fairly steep which is nice. I got right to work on my tricks and was training a back flip on the top air and a front flip on the bottom air today. Tomorrow we are going to compete in a Russian Cup event as a training tool to get us ready for the World Cup on December 11th. It feels a little strange to get in the gate again so soon but it will be a great way to get competition ready!

Check out this article that was written about myself and teammate Kristi Richards in the Whistler Question last week here and keep checking back for more updates from Finland!
