Zermatt, Switzerland

Oct 25

I have just returned home after our annual fall training camp in Zermatt, Switzerland. We went into this camp with a plan to ski 11 days and ended up getting 7 and a half… not ideal…  but it has to be expected when you go to Zermatt in October unfortunately. The glacier we train on is 1 gondola and 2 tram rides up to the top of the mountain and winds can reach over 100 km/h at the very top. This makes running the tram slightly dangerous! On a positive note the mogul course was the best it has ever been. They changed the slope of the top air landing and the snow was actually soft! This made the days that we actually made it to the top really great. I got up to doing a back layout on the top air and a front flip on the bottom air, I am planning to compete with these tricks this season.  This camp is always a wake up call that winter is almost here!

This month we have fitness testing and team meetings in Montreal, a short camp in Apex, BC depending on snow and then we are flying to Finland on December 3rd. Only a month and half until the first World Cup in Ruka! I just received my new Volkl mogul skis in the mail yesterday and the new top sheets are looking awesome, can’t wait to try them out! Hope everyone has a great halloween 🙂
